Aaron Wenck is a New York-based director, cinematographer and photographer creating films and photography around ballet, dance and movement.
From campaign content and dancer portraits to rehearsals, performance-driven films and company storytelling, the work combines an editorial point of view with an understanding of movement, timing and performance.

AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE - STUDIO COMPANYCreated for American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company, this film moves between rehearsal and performance to capture the discipline, physicality and artistry behind the dancers’ work.
MAGGIE SEPSEYA portrait of dancer Maggie Sepsey, using movement, gesture and intimate detail to explore the individuality behind the performer. The film pairs fluid choreography with a stripped-back setting, keeping the focus entirely on Maggie and her movement.
AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE - ALEXEI RATMANSKYA feature on choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, following his process inside the American Ballet Theatre studio. The film captures the exchange between choreographer and dancers as movement is shaped, refined and brought to life in rehearsal.
AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE - INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRLCreated for International Day of the Girl, this short film for American Ballet Theatre celebrates the confidence, discipline and ambition of a young dancer finding her voice through ballet.

The film follows the collaborative process inside the studio, capturing choreography as it develops through rehearsal, experimentation and exchange.
KYRA EATONA quiet portrait of dancer Kyra Eaton, capturing the ritual, detail and physicality behind her craft. Intimate close-ups and movement studies reveal the precision and personality within the performance.

Dance is already visual storytelling. The job of the camera is to understand the movement, anticipate it and find the moments that make it feel physical, intimate and cinematic.
Aaron's background across fashion, beauty, portraiture and commercial filmmaking brings an editorial sensibility to dance while preserving the athleticism and individuality of the performer.
